FINALIST 2019

Étienne Crevier is the General manager and Founder of BiogeniQ, a business he founded in 2013 when he was only 23 years old and a leader in genetic testing.

BiogeniQ successfully overcame start-up obstacles and has since experienced strong growth. In three years, turnover rose by 350% and international sales jumped from 10% to 40%.

If you don’t want to become the best, you shouldn’t even begin.

Étienne Crevier, who speaks five languages, says he wants to take his business “as far as possible”. For the future, BiogeniQ can count on the know-how and resources of the Biron Groupe Santé, which acquired BiogeniQ at the end of 2017. Since then, Étienne Crevier has been also Biron’s Corporate Development Director.

BiogeniQ provides advice and testing that help individuals adapt their diet and medical treatment based on their genetic profile. To develop his market, Étienne Crevier focusses especially on partnerships with insurance providers, who offer BiogeniQ testing to some of their consenting clients.

Broad objectives

Étienne Crevier’s primary objective is to contribute to saving lives, thanks to BiogeniQ but also by being involved in organizations like the Heart and Stroke Foundation where he is a board director. In fact, it’s his father’s sudden death, which perhaps might have been avoidable had he been aware of his genetic predispositions, that inspired Étienne Crevier to create BiogeniQ.

With a Master’s degree in Molecular Genetics, Crevier is also very active in the business community. Throughout his brilliant career, he has received numerous awards such as an Innovation Award from the Association pour le développement de la recherche et de l’innovation du Québec (ADRIQ) in 2016.
