For several years, Véronique Denys, Taxation Manager at Raymond Chabot Grant Thornton’s Québec City office, dreamt of setting foot on the “Rooftops of the World.” On May 20, she did just that: she reached the summit of Mount Everest.

In the higher mountain regions where oxygen levels are low, wind gusts reach 90 km/hr and temperatures are extremely cold, Véronique Denys demonstrated courage and determination in her encounter with Mother Nature.

See the video below (in french) to experience the high points of her epic journey.

On June 18, 2011, Raymond Chabot Grant Thornton got involved for the second time in the Grande Corvée – SOS Richelieu, and the event was a great success! Our volunteers did not spare any effort in gathering the flood debris so as to enable the municipalities’ heavy machinery to collect it afterwards.

Raymond Chabot Grant Thornton had also kicked off the SOS Richelieu Committee’s fundraising drive with a $15,000 donation. “I am very proud of the commitment and enthusiasm of our volunteers. I would like to thank them because their actions during this mutual aid event has made a huge difference for the area’s flood victims who have truly had a run of bad luck in the last few weeks”, said Lynda Coache, the Partner in Charge of RCGT’s Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu office and patron of the SOS Richelieu Committee’s corporate fundraising drive.

Finally, our Firm’s commitment to the Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu population was covered in such media as Boom FM and some regional newspapers, and appeared in the Ordre des comptables agréés du Québec’s (OCAQ) news items.

Congratulations to all the volunteers and we wish the residents well!
