Raymond Chabot Grant Thornton is proud to announce the appointment of Richard Chrétien, Assurance Partner, as Regional Vice-President, Bas-Saint-Laurent, Gaspésie and French-speaking New Brunswick.

Richard was elected by acclamation in accordance with the electoral process approved at the Partnership Board and took up his new position on May 1, 2018.

Richard began his career as an auditor at the Raymond Chabot Grant Thornton Matane office in 1989. He was appointed partner in 1998 and has been the Managing Partner of the Gaspé office for the past 20 years and the Chandler office for 6 years. He is a member of the Regional Management Committee and Executive Committee and served on the Regional Business Development Committee from 2016-2018 and the Regional Advisory Committee from 2010-2013.

He has led numerous major assurance engagements and provided business advisory services to a diversified clientele. In connection with his new duties, Richard will be transferring certain roles and responsibilities but will continue his involvement with clients. We wish him the very best and are convinced he will take up this new challenge with great success.

Michel Proulx served as Vice-President since 2007 and during his term was an invaluable contributor to the Executive Committee and the firm’s outreach. We would like to thank him for his dedication and have no doubt that it will be a pleasure for him to get back to serving his clients in Montmagny.

All Quebec food processing SMEs will benefit from a new program to increase investments in their sector in order to accelerate their automatization and increase competitiveness.

When the program was announced on April 4, 2018, Laurent Lessard, Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food (MAPAQ), and Dominique Anglade, Deputy Premier, Minister of Economy, Science and Innovation and Minister responsible for the Digital Strategy, guaranteed a total program budget of $75M to be deployed over five years until 2023, and intended for all food processing businesses.

This two-part program includes:

1) Planning a project to improve labour productivity and competitiveness of businesses with $75,000 in financial aid per applicant.

2) Carrying out projects that encourage businesses to benefit from technologies to make up for the labour shortage and improve employees’ working conditions or even to help businesses that want to integrate certain markets with the installation of various systems with financial aid of $150,000 per applicant.
