Congratulations to Christine Regimbal, Assurance Partner with the Montreal office, for acting as Honorary Co-Chair of the 19th Annual Golf Tournament of the Foundation of the Women’s Centre of Montréal. The event was a resounding success, raising $5,000 more than the target of $53,000, which will be used for the welfare of women and their families.

Denise Tessier, Assurance Partner, had already been honoured last March for “leaving her mark on the history” of the Foundation of the Women’s Centre of Montréal. In particular, she has served as Chair of the Board of Directors (her term of office ends soon) and has been an active member of the organization for 18 years. Congratulations!

Congratulations to our two partners for their dedication to the cause of women and their community involvement!

About the Women’s Centre of Montréal

For over 40 years, the Centre’s mission has been very simple, yet complex: “help women help themselves” by providing them with the necessary tools to improve their personal and family living conditions. The Centre’s main strength resides in its ability to bring together Québécois, immigrant and Aboriginal women under the same roof, offering them a wide range of services in a warm environment, while respecting their rhythm and their aspirations so that they contribute actively to our community.

The smart city takes on multiple forms and can be based on varied initiatives to improve the population’s quality of life, stimulate the local economy, reduce the carbon footprint or facilitate urban mobility.

“Few cities have applied all the dimensions of the smart city; instead they have set priorities according to their needs” explains Pierre Fortin, Partner in Charge of the Strategy & Performance Consulting Group and Municipal Sector Leader at Raymond Chabot Grant Thornton.

For more information, see the article published in Les Affaires, entitled “Une ville intelligente, c’est quoi ?” (What’s a smart city?)

Discover the different ways cities can rethink their management model in depth to reduce costs and improve public services. Attend the smart city conference, “La ville intelligente”, this October 22 at the Montréal Science Centre.

On that occasion, don’t miss Pierre Fortin’s 8:45 a.m. presentation demystifying the smart city, entitled “Démystifier la ville intelligente”. He will discuss the challenges cities will face in becoming “smart cities”.

Raymond Chabot Grant Thornton chose the Musée de la Gaspésie to mark the 60th anniversary of its Gaspé office this September 18. This cocktail reception provided a festive atmosphere to bring together many business people from the region, clients and Raymond Chabot Grant Thornton staff members.

A key vector of the regional economy

The Gaspé office employs 20 people and Raymond Chabot Grant Thornton’s offices in the Bas-St-Laurent-Gaspésie administrative region employ 230 more, including 22 partners. They count on a team of more than 20 tax specialists to serve their clientele throughout the territory.

A success story that began in 1954

It all began on January 1, 1954, when Jean-Paul Duguay opened his office in a room at the Baker Hotel, located on Rue de la Reine in Gaspé. Twenty years later, in 1974, Mr. Duguay went into partnership with Julien Leblanc and they pursued their activities under the name of Duguay-Leblanc. After another 20 years, in January 1994, seeing that the market required more specialized services, they decided to merge their firm with Raymond Chabot Grant Thornton. The year 2014 therefore marks the 60th anniversary of the firm’s presence in Gaspé!

M. Paul Duguay et M. Richard Chrétien

To mark his contribution, the founder, Paul Duguay, received a present from the partner in charge of the Gaspé office, Richard Chrétien. In addition, the office’s conference room was named in his honour. Mr. Chrétien took the opportunity to thank his clientele and remind everyone of the importance of employee commitment.

Michel Cavanagh, Michel Proulx, Linda Bossé, Jocelyn Lavoie et Richard Chrétien

Several of the firm’s partners attended this cocktail reception, including (from left to right) Michel Cavanagh, Assurance Partner (Rimouski), Michel Proulx, Partner and Regional Vice-President, Linda Bossé, Assurance Partner (Témiscouata-sur-le-Lac), Jocelyn Lavoie, Assurance Partner (La Pocatière) and Richard Chrétien, Assurance Partner (Gaspé).

Congratulations and happy 60th anniversary!
