In an article in the newspaper Finance et Investissement, Luc Lacombe, Tax Partner at Raymond Chabot Grant Thornton’s Laval office, reviews the advantages and disadvantages of the voluntary retirement savings plan (VRSP). According to Luc Lacombe, despite its competitors (PRPP, group RRSP, group TFSA, etc.) the VRSP undoubtedly should be favoured by employers. “We may even see a shift from group RRSPs to VRSPs,” he says.

This May 22, over 500 guests from the business, health and arts communities got together for the Jovia (Dr Clown) annual benefit evening, which raised $380,000 to support therapeutic clown programs.

Martin Deschênes, Chairman of the Partnership Boards and Assurance Partner at the Montréal office, co-chaired the organization’s fundraising campaign again this year.

Jovia-Dr-Clown

Our partner, Martin Deschênes, was very proud of this evening’s success. The honorary chair of the campaign was Claude Sirois, Co-Chief Operating Officer and Executive Vice-President, Quebec at Ivanhoé Cambridge (on his right). Joël Legendre (on his left) emceed the event brilliantly.

About Jovia

Jovia’s mission is to contribute to improving the quality of life of hospital patients through its two therapeutic clown programs that combine complicity, playfulness and imagination. Jovia aims to integrate therapeutic clowns into the treatment plans of Canadian health care facilities. The therapeutic clowns work with two different clienteles: Dr Clown for children in pediatric hospitals and in specialized centres (rehabilitation and palliative care) via its Dr Clown programs, and La belle visite, for seniors who are no longer independent and living in residence or long-term care facilities (CHSLD).

The 2014 fundraising campaign for the Outaouais section of the Red Cross is officially underway! Alain Tremblay, assurance partner in the Gatineau office, is the honorary president of this year’s campaign, and his fundraising committee has set the ambitious target of collecting $75,000 in donations.

Good luck to Alain Tremblay (5th from the left) and the entire fundraising committee!

For the Red Cross, your contribution can change everything!

In the Outaouais, 80 volunteers are ready to step in to help disaster victims, any time and everywhere. In just one year, 53 interventions brought volunteer assistance to 168 people in a region that stretches from Papineauville to Maniwaki.

When everything goes wrong, the Red Cross is there! Whether it is for one person, one family or an entire community, the volunteers offer comfort and essential emergency assistance in the event of tragedy. The financial support of the general public and especially the business community is more important than ever for the Red Cross. In fact, the Red Cross receives no government subsidies, and its efforts depend entirely on the generosity of its donors.

Bravo to our expert for his commitment to the community, which offers a good illustration of our corporate culture and the way we work in the markets and communities we serve. It reflects our CLEARR values, which are integrated into every sphere of our activities and define our relationships with our colleagues, our clients and the world in general.
