Raymond Chabot has won the 2012 Consumer Choice excellence award in the Trustee Category for the Québec City region.

Mark Bernier and Jocelyn Renaud, both Recovery and Reorganization Partners at the Québec City office, represented Raymond Chabot on the occasion and received the award during the Consumer Choice Awards Gala on June 5, 2012.

Winners are selected based on a Léger Marketing survey that ranks the best businesses selected by consumers and business people (in the latter’s respective industries). Furthermore, the Consumer Choice Award is the only award in North America that recognizes business excellence based on a statistically valid inquiry among consumers and enterprises.

The Ordre des CPA was created in May 2012 following the unification of the accounting profession in Quebec. It results from the merger of the Ordre des comptables agréés (CA), Ordre des comptables généraux accrédités (CGA) and Ordre des comptables en management accrédités (CMA). The Ordre now represents all areas of expertise of the accounting profession—assurance, financial accounting, management and management accounting, finance and taxation—at the service of enterprises, organizations and the general public. This explains why Raymond Chabot Grant Thornton’s partners and experts whose previous title was CA, CMA or CGA will now be designated as CPA.

Benefits for the Public

With a single gateway to the mechanisms for protecting the public and regulations that draw on the highest ethical and professional standards of the three orders, the new Ordre des CPA has the tools it needs to better protect the public. Unification also allows for the introduction of a new single core designation and globally recognized business credential for professional accountants in all economic sectors.

The Ordre des CPA du Québec has over 35,000 members and 6,500 candidates for the practice of the profession. To learn more about the Ordre des comptables professionnels agréés du Québec and the accounting profession, visit www.cpa-quebec.com.
