For the third year in a row, 2,000 Raymond Chabot Grant Thornton employees and some 50,000 employees from the Grant Thornton global organization mobilized on September 14, 2018 to give back to communities around the world.

As part of the RCGT in the community event, the firm closed its offices in Quebec, Ontario and New Brunswick so that its staff could spend their workday helping 50 community organizations.

More than 150 RCGT volunteers carried out outdoor work at Kawanawa YMCA’s camp.

Emilio B. Imbriglio, Raymond Chabot Grant Thornton President and CEO said: ‘‘Our firm has been committed to ensuring the vitality of our communities for 70 years. Building a vigorous economy in each of these communities is what makes society successful and our community organizations play a pivotal role. We are proud to have joined the Grant Thornton global initiative again this year by carrying out inspiring volunteer activities which reflect our corporate values. I’d like to sincerely thank everyone who participated in making a difference during this memorable event.’’

On September 5, 2018, Raymond Chabot Grant Thornton Senior Manager Denis Brisebois shared the findings of a study commissioned by Innovation et développement économique (IDE) Trois-Rivières.

According to the expert’s analysis, the impact of tourism in Trois-Rivières is considerable: close to three million visitors per year, that is, 8,000 per day on average, 4,750 related jobs and $213 million in economic spinoffs.

Denis stated: “All economic indicators are on the rise, whether it’s the occupancy rate, number of visitors, admissions to attractions, restaurants or shops.”

To arrive at these conclusions, the firm conducted interviews with opinion leaders and a survey with 130 business managers working in various activity sectors. This survey’s results are a clear indication that Trois-Rivières’s tourism appeal has increased significantly since 2008, rising from 2.1 out of 5 in 2008 to 4.1 out of 5 in 2018.

To learn more about this study and the city’s future prospect, read the article (in French) in the Nouvelliste published September 6, 2018 or the one in Hebdo Journal published on September 5, 2018 (in French only).
