On Thursday, December 6, 2018, more than 150 people got together in Saguenay to listen to testimonials on entrepreneurial succession.

The panel, comprising two transferees and two transferors, was hosted by our firm’s Éric Dufour, Regional Vice-President and Entrepreneurial Succession leader.

Valérie Gilbert of Groupe Fernand Gilbert, Denis Gagnon of Évasion Sport, Marc Grenon of Aménagement Grenon, and Catherine Verreault of IGA Verreault, spoke of the inter-generational challenges of a family succession. They generously shared their experiences and advice with an attentive crowd.

Organized by the Chambre de commerce et d’industrie Saguenay-Le Fjord, the event gathered business people for the traditional Christmas brunch. It was also an opportunity to launch the regional cell of the Groupe la relève, famille en affaires!

Our firm is one of the business partners of this group, which is the only exclusive family entrepreneurial succession organization. The fifteen or so members who will make up the Saguenay cell will be able to share their challenges and projects in a private setting.

This is Financial Literacy Month in Canada. Do you have the necessary knowledge to deal with over-indebtedness?

Pier-Paul Belzil-Lacasse, Lead Senior Manager and Licensed Insolvency Trustee explains the importance for everyone to have the knowledge, skills and confidence to interpret financial information and make informed decisions. They will be more self-sufficient and less likely to fall into the over-indebtedness trap.

It’s also important to know the difference between want and need and to have the discipline to build a financial cushion, which, ideally, should be at least six months of salary to handle unforeseen situations such as illness, job loss, separation.

To find out more about sound financial habits and Financial Literacy Month, listen to our expert’s November 14, 2018 interview on Radio-Canada.
