MONTRÉAL, January 12, 2015 – With the tax period in full swing, Raymond Chabot Grant Thornton is pleased to offer its 2014-2015 Tax Planning guide to taxpayers free of charge. This innovative tool provides support for tax planning and tax returns.

“Tax information is complex and not many documents offer the advantage of housing tax measures and new developments under the same tool. We’re proud to provide cutting-edge tax information that helps Quebec taxpayers and managers avoid nasty surprises. Since we’re constantly seeking ways to help Quebec managers achieve their ambitions, our Tax Planning Guide—available in a unique format adapted to today’s users—is part of this objective,” stated Jean Gauthier, Partner and National Tax Manager.

As usual, there are iPhone and iPad Tax Planning Guide apps and a tax calculator with the Apple app that helps consumers understand their tax rate according to their financial profile. The optimized website (www.taxplanningguide.ca) makes browsing easier for the Android, Apple and BlackBerry platforms.

Thanks to the geolocation function, users can quickly consult the tax measures in their province of residence, in both English and French. The tax calculator was also enhanced to be used with Ontario and New Brunswick’s tax tables.

On the Tax Planning Guide website (www.taxplanningguide.ca), taxpayers can download the app from the Apple Store free of charge, get a PDF version and consult other tax-related documents.

This November 7, Raymond Chabot Grant Thornton’s offices in the Bas-Saint-Laurent, Gaspésie and Edmundston region celebrated the 30th anniversary of their merger with the Raymond Chabot Grant Thornton network. A hundred people got together that evening, a unique opportunity for partners, ex-partners and employees to discuss the highlights of this 30-year history. The future could also be discussed, because the President and CEO, Emilio B. Imbriglio, was present to mark this milestone and congratulate the employees and partners on their contribution to the region’s economic and social development.

30e anniversaire | Bas-St-Laurent | RCGT

The short history of a big firm

Already well established since 1948, Raymond Chabot Grant Thornton, decided in 1984 to ensure its presence in Bas-Saint-Laurent and Gaspésie. On May 13, 1983, in Rivière-du-Loup, official merger discussions began with Corriveau, Bujold, Lavoie, Madore & Associés, comptables agréés, with offices located in Rivière-du-Loup, Chandler, La Pocatière, Matane, Montmagny, New Richmond and Sainte-Anne-des-Monts. At the time, the firm included 18 partners, 118 employees and 7 offices. The merger became a reality on November 17, 1984. The firm thus made a major breakthrough in the entire Bas-Saint-Laurent-Gaspésie territory, achieving a real expansion.

At the heart of the region’s socioeconomic activity since 1984

Serving businesses, as well as public and parapublic bodies of Bas-Saint-Laurent, Gaspésie and Edmundston, Raymond Chabot Grant Thornton is positioned at the heart of the region’s socioeconomic activity. Today, the firm benefits from enviable name recognition in the region, with over 22 partners and 240 people spread among 16 offices. Congratulations!
