Jointly with Grant Thornton Canada, our firm organized a series of events and presentations aimed to showcase our talent throughout the convention. We were also a Gold Plus Sponsor of the event.

Representatives from several Grant Thornton International member firms joined the Grant Thornton Canada and Raymond Chabot Grant Thornton teams, which included Anand Beejan, Montréal Assurance Partner and Mining Sector Leader, Serge Allard, Assurance Partner and Vice-President of the Abitibi-Témiscamingue region, Jean Gauthier, National Head of Tax, Montréal office, Michael Dimitriou and Shawn Mincoff, both Assurance Partners from the Ottawa office, Johanne Gélinas, Partner in Charge of the Sustainability and Greenhouse Gas Management practice, Montréal office, and Marie-Eve Carignan, Manager, Communications and Public Relations, Montréal office. Our team welcomed the 25,000-plus convention visitors at our specially-created booth and networked with various participating organizations.

Raymond Chabot Grant Thornton and Grant Thornton Canada showcased their expertise thanks to a day of presentations highlighting our experts and clients. First, Johanne Gélinas led a highly successful conference on sustainability and essentials for mining companies. Then, a panel of representatives from various mining companies led by Globe and Mail mining industry reporter Rachelle Younglai held a discussion on the mining industry’s changing environment and presented the initial results of Grant Thornton’s annual mining industry study. Last, a second panel facilitated by Brian Banks from Listed Magazine addressed the financing issue and options for mining companies. The day ended with a cocktail reception organized jointly with McMillan LLP which brought together over 300 guests from the mining industry.

In addition to these events, Anand Beejan gave a series of interviews to numerous media outlets, speaking about the PDAC, announcements made by the Quebec government during the convention and the preliminary mining industry study data. Here’s an overview of the media coverage generated (in French, except where noted):
