Raymond Chabot Grant Thornton and Les Affaires invite the business community to take part in the next segment of Opération Relève Québec 2011.

Opération Relève Québec 2011 is a concrete way to outfit both those seeking to hand over the reins of their business and those who have shown an interest in taking them up.

Started last February, this Quebec tour will visit six new cities by the end of October. At each stop, Raymond Chabot Grant Thornton and Les Affaires, as well as their tour mates, will be presenting a series of free workshops on business transfers and succession planning. The morning workshops are specifically designed to help business owners prepare their succession, while the afternoon sessions are geared to the succession and future directors.

The Eastern Townships region is proud to announce that the Sherbrooke office will receive RECYC-QUÉBEC’s Ici on recycle program’s highest recognition, i.e., Level 3 Performance certification.

The Ici on recycle program recognizes establishments rather than enterprises, so the region’s Sustainable Development Committee is currently putting together files for each of the Eastern Townships offices.

Kudos to the Sherbrooke office for this environmental initiative and its eco-friendliness!

The latest research from the Grant Thornton International Business Report (IBR) reveals that one privately-owned company out of five (22%) globally believes that the recent upheaval in the Middle East and North Africa has had a negative impact on their business. Ed Nusbaum, President and CEO of Grant Thornton International, discussed this statistic on Bloomberg. As for North America, one quarter (26%) of companies have also reported negative effects.

However, only 10% of companies globally say they are less likely to develop business in these regions. Mr. Nusbaum concludes that, in light of these results, companies still see real business opportunities in this part of the world for the mid- and long-term.
