How to start a business? Pierre Garant, Partner and Assurance leader at Raymond Chabot Grant Thornton and President of Operio, a firm subsidiary, offered some tips on Montréal’s South Shore Radio Allumée 103.3 FM show, Entrepreneur branché avec Philippe Richard Bertrand.

“Entrepreneurs don’t transform, they evolve, because they have it in themselves. You can’t be afraid of taking risks and challenges should be seen as opportunities, not problems,” said Mr. Garant.

Operio: Operational intelligence for SMEs

To succeed as an entrepreneur, tools are indispensable. During this interview, Pierre mentioned that the comprehensive accounting-consulting service offering for SMEs proposed by Operio seeks to meet the needs of local businesses.

“How do I get organized, how can I make financial projections, how can I implement accounting and financial management solutions and controls effectively, etc.”

Operio has the solutions to answer these questions and many more! To learn more about the services, click here.

On June 14, 2018, Éric Dufour gave a presentation on bridging the generation gap at the Hotel Chicoutimi attended by numerous business leaders and representatives from the region’s socioeconomic sector.

The firm’s Business Transfer Leader and Regional Vice-President illustrated generational differences and emphasized the importance of identifying tendencies created by these gaps.

“You have to build bridges between these gaps. I’d like to see a more disciplined approach to taking action. There is a need for generational sharing, a 2020 bridge. Consider Luciano Pavarotti, the great classical singer, for example. What did he do in 1993? He decided to sing with rock stars such as Bono and Sting. His successful transition quickly silenced his critics. If he could do it, why can’t we?” Dufour stated.

Éric Dufour added that Raymond Chabot Grant Thornton has set up an advisory service that can help business people build generational bridges and support an efficient and well-planned entrepreneurial succession initiative.
