Raymond Chabot Grant Thornton is proud to have been selected by the Board of Trade of Metropolitan Montreal to contribute to the above study. Launched last April, the study elicited great interest from the media, the public, and agents involved in carrying out large projects north of the 49th parallel.

It demonstrates that the potential spinoffs of exploiting natural resources and implementing the Plan Nord in Québec will be in the order of $51.8B for the metropolitan area over the next 25 years. Additionally, such activities will create or maintain some 14,335 jobs annually for 25 years in the metropolitan area.

Pierre Garant

Congratulations to Pierre Garant, Assurance Partner and Head of the Lévis office, on his appointment as President of the Société de développement économique de Lévis (SDE Lévis). He will replace Louise Gingras after her many years of involvement in the Lévis business community.

According to the organization, Pierre’s appointment reflects SDE Lévis’s desire to position itself as a leader in entrepreneurship development. Such a statement is testimony to Pierre’s leadership and his personal and professional commitment to entrepreneurship development in the Lévis region.

Several media outlets invited Raymond Chabot Grant Thornton to comment on the Quebec and federal budgets announced on March 20 and 29, 2012, respectively.

Other than the press releases (Québec and federal budgets) that were published following the budget lock-ups, which set us apart, some of our experts gave their observations and demonstrated their tax and financial expertise in several media outlets and various regions of the Firm’s network.

Tax Partners Bernard Poulin and Luc Lacombe, who both attended the two lock-ups, gave several interviews, notably with hosts Paul Arcand and Paul Houde.

Raymond Chabot Grant Thornton and its Real Estate Consulting Group’s expertise were showcased during the Major Projects Strategic Forum organized by the Board of Trade of Metropolitan Montréal on Friday, March 30, 2012.

During this event, Benoit Egan, Partner in the Montréal office, answered the question, “Is the current economic environment favourable for investing in real estate in the city?” through a detailed talk on current and future economic prospects in this market.

The Real Estate Consulting Group’s projections drew the interest of participants and the media.
