Last November 26, Raymond Chabot Grant Thornton proudly participated in the first edition of the Intergenerational Dinner of Chambre de commerce du Haut-Richelieu. This dynamic innovative event brought together over 300 people in St-Jean-sur-Richelieu to raise youth awareness of entrepreneurship, credit and debt.
Good money management is something you learn!
The crowd of students from Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu secondary schools, CEGEP students and members of the local Chambre de commerce were able to hear different speakers, including François Duquette, proprietor of Saint-Jean Hyundai, and Éric Lebel, Recovery & Reorganization Partner and Émilie Nadon, Senior Manager, Reorganization (Consumer).
Our two experts took advantage of the podium they were offered, to awaken young people to the importance of making a budget and accumulating savings, and get them to understand the distinction between needing and wanting. Practical cases and concrete examples enhanced the presentation so that our young consumers and future entrepreneurs can avoid traps, particularly the trap of poor credit management, which would have short and long-term impacts on their holdings.
A proactive community
This event was made possible with the collaboration of Collège militaire royal de Saint-Jean, Centre d’aide aux entreprises Haute-Montérégie, Raymond Chabot Grant Thornton and Chambre de commerce du Haut-Richelieu.
This fine motivational event allowed us to educate youngsters about the possibilities of entrepreneurship and give them the bases for good planning of their personal finances. Lynda Coache, Assurance Partner and Business Personality of the Year of Chambre de commerce du Haut-Richelieu, was present during the event to support this initiative, which showcases the great proactivity of the Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu community and the importance of taking care of youth and completing their economic education.
Congratulations to Raymond Chabot Grant Thornton’s three experts, Émilie Nadon, Éric Lebel and Lynda Coache, for their contribution to the success of this very first Intergenerational Dinner! (Photo credit: Rémy Boily, TC Media)
