The Regroupement des jeunes chambres de commerce du Québec (RJCCQ) held its 26th Gala des Grands prix de la relève d’affaires on June 8, 2018.

This event recognizes the talent of entrepreneurs under 40 for their outstanding professional achievements.

As sponsors of this province-wide competition celebrating the accomplishments of emerging talents, Raymond Chabot Grant Thornton and its subsidiary Operio had the honour of presenting awards in two of the twelve categories.

Marc Bergeron, Partner and Vice-President of the firm’s Recovery and Reorganization Group presented the Administrateur de la relève award to Amélie T. Gouin, chairman of the board of the Jeune Chambre de commerce de Montréal (JCCM), in connection with a training program the firm has been supporting for many years. For his part, Pierre Garant, Partner and Operio President, presented the award to Rum & Code for its achievements in the PME ou Startup de l’année – volet technologie/innovation category.

Raymond Chabot Grant Thornton is proud to have been involved once again in the annual meetings of the Corporation des officiers municipaux agréés du Québec (COMAQ), which took place May 23 to 25, 2018 in Québec City.

Guylaine Dallaire, Tax Partner, dedicates most of her practice to the public, parapublic, government and real estate sectors. She uses this conference to meet her clients from all over the province. It’s an opportunity to review major developments in the past year affecting managers (treasurers, clerks and directors general). This information could relate to contracts, real estate transactions, regulatory standards and legislative changes.

On May 31, 2018, at the Sommet international du repreneuriat organized by the Centre de transfert d’entreprise du Québec (CTEQ), Serge Plourde, Director – Management Consulting, took part in an expert panel to discuss the new challenges of businesses in Quebec’s tourism sector.

During this workshop, panellists analyzed trends in the tourism sector and the profile of potential buyers in the field. With over thirty years of experience in tourism and economic development and having been involved in over 150 major projects across Quebec, Mr. Plourde spoke about a few key elements.

“Communication is very important during business transfers, but the greatest challenge of the tourism industry is transferring to buyers,” stated the specialist.

At this major event where some 500 people participated in workshops and conferences, Raymond Chabot Grant Thornton experts were also in attendance, including Éric Dufour, Regional Vice-President and National Business Transfer Leader. The firm is a partner of the CTEQ.
