2022: Today’s economy and businesses challenges

We held our first one-on-one conversation with Martin Coiteux, Head of Economic Analysis and Global Strategy at the Caisse de dépôt et placement du Québec, on May 21, 2020.

Two years later, we’re pleased to welcome him back for another exclusive conversation. He sat down with Nathalie Boyer, Executive Vice-President and Chief Operating Officer at Raymond Chabot Grant Thornton, to discuss the outlook for the economy in the “nearly” post-pandemic period.

Even though the economies of Canada and Quebec are headed back in the right direction, certain factors could still undermine growth and prompt companies to rethink their business models.

How is the economy faring? What’s the outlook in light of the potential new world order?

Beyond the usual challenges that entrepreneurs and executives have to grapple with—like inflation, rising interest rates, supply chain disruptions, the labour shortage and more—the war in Ukraine could cause a major upheaval.
