Executive summary

Valtech has built strong teams in Canada and the USA, capable of serving tier-1 clients in their digital and business transformation projects in the region. With more than 600 consultants today, North America is a key region for our operations. Valtech has made the strategic decision to invest heavily in the region, with double-digit growth targets for the 3 years to come and by acquiring strategically positioned local players to complement our service offering.

In that context, we are looking for a Regional CFO who will partner with the regional executive team to transform the finance function into a unified team helping the region to grow its revenues and profits. There is a considerable potential to provide insights into the business, increase the safety and predictability of the operations and financial reporting, and collaborate across the organization to build processes that will benefit everyone.

The role requires excellent financial and accounting skills, proven change management experience and a well-rounded personality capable of working in a multicultural environment.

Scope of responsibility

Financial leadership

  • Leverage financial data and vision to steer the region towards achieving its goals.
  • Weigh in on decisions at any level to that end.

Managing reporting

  • Provide the management with appropriate reporting to understand the key drivers of revenue, gross margin, EBITDA and cash flow.
  • Ensure consistency of local KPIs with group KPIs.

Accounting and compliance

  • Build a team to provide accounting in compliance with IFRS, group’s policies and deadlines for the legal entities in the region.
  • Monitor local tax compliance, work with approved tax consultancies, ensure compliance with the group’s transfer pricing policies.
  • Finish the implementation of internal controls and maintain a high level of control effectiveness.

Budgeting and forecasting

  • Drive the annual budget and quarterly forecast cycles as part of the group forecasting process.
  • Work with the management team to plan and execute towards reaching financial goals.
  • Engage with the group FP&A function on detailed and transparent financial performance analysis.

Financial information systems

  • Participate in the implementation of the group’s business information systems (Oracle cloud, Salesforce, OpenAir, Mavenlink), notably in recently acquired companies.
  • Conduct change management across the organization to adjust operational procedures to the requirements of our business information systems.

Implementation of financial processes

  • Review existing processes that impact finance and accounting, from the collection of business data to the production of financial reporting to ensure the safety, compliance, timeliness and cost-efficiency of our financial reporting (statutory, tax, and management) in the region.

Post-acquisition integration

  • Plan post-acquisition workstreams of future acquired companies in order to bring them in the financial operating framework of the group. Execute the integration plan.

Support on M&A process

  • Participate in financial and operational due diligence of potential acquisitions in the region, under the supervision of the M&A Department of the group.

Requirements and skills / Profile sought

Education, Training & Experience

  • BBA/BS/BA degree or higher in accounting, finance, business administration or related field from an accredited institution.
  • Relevant experience in administrative and financial management of equally large and complex budgets, staff and organizations.
  • Experience with audits conducted by Big 4 auditors in an international context.
  • Senior leadership in strategic financial management.
  • Strong general management capabilities.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Experience working for an international multi-site company.
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation desired.
  • Knowledge in IFRS, budgeting and fiscal control principles.
  • Demonstrated skills in developing and managing multi-year budgets.
  • Working knowledge of contract services.
  • Relevant skills in automated accounting software systems and database spreadsheets.
  • Strong accounting analysis skills.
  • Knowledge of cost accounting principles.
  • Experience in performing internal controls.
  • Demonstrated leadership qualities, depth and breadth of financial management expertise.
  • Strong interpersonal, writing and oral presentation skills.
  • Proven ability to manage staff of various skill levels and abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and manage a high-volume workflow.
  • Relevant computer software skills and familiarity with accounting software (including, at a minimum, the standard applications in MS Office).
  • Highly organized, detail oriented, creative thinker, able to problem solve and ability to multi-task/prioritize and meet deadlines with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of an integrated team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, written and oral communication skills.
