Executive summary

Valtech has built strong teams in Canada and the USA, capable of serving tier-1 clients in their digital and business transformation projects in the region. With more than 600 consultants today, North America is a key region for our operations. Valtech has made the strategic decision to invest heavily in the region, with double-digit growth targets for the 3 years to come and by acquiring strategically positioned local players to complement our service offering.

In that context, we are looking for a Regional Controller who will partner with the regional executive team to transform the finance function into a unified team helping the region to grow its revenues and profits. There is a considerable potential to provide insights into the business, increase the safety and predictability of the operations and financial reporting, and collaborate across the organization to build processes that will benefit everyone.

Scope of responsibility

The Regional Controller is responsible for the management of the Financial reporting and reports to the Regional CFO North America.​ The Regional accounting team reports to the Regional Controller.​

The Regional Controller will be responsible for:​

  • Consolidating, reviewing and analyzing financial data at regional level​.
  • Reviewing and approving Finance transactions in accordance with their role limitation​.
  • Managing Financial Reporting (Profit & Loss, Balance Sheet, Tax, Cash) at the Legal entity level​.
  • Ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and internal financial and accounting policies​.
  • Overseeing the books readiness on time for the Regional CFO review prior to month-end closing across the region.
  • Overseeing the accounting transactions and the financial statements accuracy and completeness​.
  • Ensuring the delivery on a timely manner of the Regional Financial reporting to the approval of the Regional CFO​.
  • Ensuring that all statutory requirements are met for each legal entity​.
  • Escalating any critical topics to the Regional CFO​.
  • Interacting with the Business Shared Services Center (BSSC)​.
  • Participate to the analysis and comments of deviations between budget, actuals and year over year differences​.
  • Participate to the Audit process with the external and Internal auditors​.
  • Participate as a member to the audit restitution.
  • Timely performing the internal controls, he/she owns​.

Requirements / Profile sought

Education, Training & Experience

  • BBA/BS/BA degree or higher in accounting, finance, business administration or related field from an accredited institution.
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation desired.
  • Relevant experience in administrative and financial management of equally large and complex budgets, staff and organizations.
  • Experience working for an international multi-site company.
  • Experience with audits conducted by Big 4 auditors in an international context.
  • Senior leadership in strategic financial management.
  • Strong general management capabilities.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Demonstrated experience in Financial Controlling (strong knowledge in Accounting, Financial reporting, Local GAAP, IFRS rules…)​.
  • Knowledge in IFRS, budgeting and fiscal control principles.
  • Demonstrated skills in developing and managing multi-year budgets.
  • Working knowledge of contract services.
  • Relevant skills in automated accounting software systems and database spreadsheets.
  • Strong accounting analysis skills.
  • Knowledge of cost accounting principles.
  • Demonstrated leadership qualities, depth and breadth of financial management expertise.
  • Able to communicate with various range of stakeholders and build confidence among them​.
  • Demonstrate strong analytical mindset with the ability to use data to make informed decisions​.
  • Able to prioritize according to what’s at stake at any given time, be solution and decision driven​.
  • Strong interpersonal, writing and oral presentation skills.
  • Proven ability to manage staff of various skill levels and abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and manage a high-volume workflow.
  • Relevant computer software skills and familiarity with accounting software (including, at a minimum, the standard applications in MS Office).
  • Highly organized, detail oriented, creative thinker, able to problem solve and ability to multi-task/prioritize and meet deadlines with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of an integrated team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, written and oral communication skills.
  • Must be fluent in English​.
