Taking the Lead: Victoria’s Journey at RCGT

3 min read

Victoria Majeau thrives on challenge—it’s been a defining thread throughout her journey from the outset. Currently pursuing a Graduate Diploma of Professional Accounting (DESS) following her bachelor’s degree at HEC Montréal, she has consistently sought opportunities to step outside her comfort zone, whether through involvement in student initiatives or academic competitions. “I like the idea of always learning and pushing myself further,” she shares.

During her undergraduate studies, Victoria served as President of the CPA Committee and was deeply engaged in university life. Her commitment earned her the Lieutenant Governor’s Youth Medal in 2025, along with several scholarships recognizing the excellence of her academic and extracurricular path. Today, she channels that same drive into training for a half‑marathon.

For Victoria, however, accolades are not an end in themselves. Rather, they reflect a young professional who is fully engaged and motivated by making things move forward.

A confident emerging leader

Victoria describes herself candidly as someone who enjoys taking initiative. In team projects, she is often the one organizing, assigning tasks, and following up. “I like it when things are moving and progressing,” she says with a smile. Her leadership is not expressed through grand speeches, but through action and her ability to rally others.

During the recruitment process, she took the time to meet with several firms, but quickly felt a genuine connection with the people at RCGT—a first impression that was soon confirmed during her internship.

Victoria is now completing her third internship at RCGT and plans to return full time after the Common Final Examination. Her decision to stay is largely driven by the sense that her contribution matters and that she is already hands‑on in her work.

Learning in a real‑world environment

What resonates with her is not only the firm’s reputation, but also the quality of interactions and the close‑knit team structure. “At the Montréal office,” she explains, “we work on large engagements while remaining close to our teams. That level of proximity really appeals to me.”

On a daily basis, she communicates with clients, performs testing on various audit file sections, and continues to gain autonomy.

“Most of my responsibilities are audit‑related, but I also take part in review engagements. I analyze clients’ figures and results to fully understand their financial year and ensure the accuracy of the information.”

The trust placed in her by team members fundamentally shapes her experience—and fuels her curiosity. Victoria wants to understand the ‘why’ behind processes, not simply execute tasks. What she seeks right now is a deeper grasp of procedures and the logic that connects theory to practice.

While working on client files, she often recalls concepts learned in class. “I often find myself thinking, ‘Oh—that’s what our professor was trying to explain.’” For her, the internship makes learning tangible, showing how academic concepts come to life in practice.

Growing with confidence

The internship has also allowed Victoria to see how far she has progressed. She places great value on day‑to‑day feedback, advice from colleagues, and everything that comes with experience.

She can clearly see her growth. For example, she now feels far more comfortable interacting with clients than she did at the beginning. Tasks that once took significant effort during her first internship now feel much more natural.

At RCGT, Victoria Majeau has found an environment where she can learn, build confidence, and look ahead with assurance. And when it’s time to recharge, she often does so by going for a run or spending time with her dog, Selly—her own way of restoring energy.
